Elizabeth - Say Yes before you check what it costs you

...I don't remember saying yes to that

May 04, 20263 min read

You say yes before you check
what it costs you.

And now your day has already shifted—
before you even realize it.

Elizabeth i said yes... and I didn't even realize it.

WHEN YOU NOTICE IT

You’re halfway through your day when it hits—

“…wait… when did I say yes to this?”

Not overwhelmed.

Not stressed.

Just that quiet realization—

👉 how did i inherit this?

And you don’t remember deciding it.

IN BETWEEN MOMENTS

You’re standing in your kitchen.

Not cooking. Not sitting.

Just there… in between.

Phone in your hand… you opened it for one thing
and now you’re already answering something else.

“hey—can you hop on a quick call later?”

You don’t think about what “later” looks like.

You don’t think about your evening.

You just type:

👉 “yeah, I can”

And then you lock your phone…

like nothing just happened.

AT A STOPLIGHT

You’re in your car.

Sitting at red light.

You’ve got maybe 30 seconds.

A notification comes through.

“can you send me that file when you get a second?”

And instead of waiting—

you start mentally rearranging your next hour.

👉 where you’ll fit it in
👉 what you’ll push back
👉 what can move

The light turns green.

And now it’s already part of your day.

MID-CONVERSATION

You’re talking to someone.

In person.

You weren’t expecting anything from it—

just a normal conversation.

And then—

“oh wait, could you actually handle that part?”

You nod before you think.

👉 “yeah, that’s fine”

And the conversation keeps going.

But something just shifted.

IT DOESN’T FEEL LIKE A DECISION

That’s the part that’s easy to miss.

None of those felt like decisions.

They felt like:

“of course”
“no problem”
“yeah, I’ve got it”

There’s no pause.

No moment where you sit and choose.

It just… moves.

LATER IS WHEN IT LANDS

And then later—

that’s when it shows up.

When your time gets tight.
When something you planned gets pushed.
When you’re moving things around to make it work.

Or—

👉 you’re apologizing for being gone again

And you hear yourself say—

“…yeah… of course…”

(pause)

👉 oh… right

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED

Not because you made a bad decision.

Because you didn’t realize you were making one.

THE PART THAT BUILDS

It’s not the big commitments.

It’s the quick ones.

The ones that slide in while you’re doing something else.
The ones you answer without stopping.

The ones that don’t even register—

until they turn into something real.

WHAT YOU START TO SEE

You start noticing it after the fact.

When it’s already on your calendar.
Already in motion.
Already yours.

And you think—

👉 I don’t remember saying yes to that

AND THAT’S IT

And that’s the part no one sees.

Not the big decisions.

The small ones that already happened.

The ones that were out of your mouth
before you even checked.

And later…

that’s when you feel it.

When your day shifts.
When something you planned doesn’t happen.

And you realize—

👉 this is mine now

Even though…

👉 you don’t remember choosing it

Elizabeth frustrated she said yes and didn't check the cost first

If you’re starting to notice this…
